Rules for the photo contest. “The Joys of Hunting” Photo Contest will begin May 15th, 2011 and ends August 1, 2011, at 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST). By submitting an entry, each contestant agrees to the rules of the contest.  A random drawing of all entries will be held on September 1st, 2011 with the winning contestant being contacted by September 8th, 2011.  The winner will also be announced on by Sept. 15th 2011.

Who may enter:
Hunters / Photographers 18 years old or older—except for individuals affiliated with, Mt. Creek Farm & Outfitters, or any other outfitting operation, including their employees, trustees, interns, volunteers, and their immediate families (children, siblings and spouses) and any others living in their households—are eligible. will ultimately determine winners’ eligibility.

What to enter:

Participants may submit up to 25 photos that show what they believe to be the “Joys of Hunting.”  Each photo is considered an “entry” into the contest allowing the participant to have up to 25 entries per household.

What TO submit:

Photos MUST:

Have the hunter present in the photo if the picture includes a harvested animal
Be of a game animal / NO FISHING OR TRAIL CAM PHOTOS
Be of high quality (remember others from around the world will be looking at this)
NOT INCLUDE excessive blood, organs or entrails present in the picture from the harvested animal

Participants who submit pictures / entries that do not meet the following guidelines will NOT have that particular picture / entry counted in the drawing.
Photographs must have been shot since January 1, 2007.

Cropped photos are eligible. We do not accept digitally or otherwise enhanced or altered photos that have been modified by the use of Photoshop or similar software.  Minor adjustments, including spotting, dodging and burning, sharpening, contrast, “red eye” removal, and slight color adjustment or the digital equivalents are allowed.

High-quality scans of non-digital photographs are acceptable. Digital photographs should be taken at the highest resolution possible. Photographs must be in a .jpeg, .jpg or .gif format. Files submitted may not be larger than 2,048k (2Mb).

Photographs that have won any other contests or have been published in magazines and newspapers (except online) are not eligible. We define winning as having won a grand prize or 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place overall. Photos that violate or infringe upon another person’s rights, including but not limited to copyright, are not eligible.

Photographs submitted through the mail will not be accepted. Only the first 25 approved entries will be counted. Only ONE participant per household allowed.  Multiple pictures / entries may be attached to a single e-mail.

By entering the contest, entrants grant a royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, reproduce and create derivative works of the entries, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or subsequently developed, for any educational, promotional, publicity, exhibition, archival, scholarly and all other standard purposes. Any photograph reproduced will include a photographer credit as feasible. will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses.

Entry deadline: 

All entries must be by 11:59pm Eastern Time on August 1, 2011.

Determination of a Winner:

All approved entries will be assigned a number.  A random electronic drawing will be held that will choose a random number by computer.  The entry matching that number will be declared the winner.  Should the winner not be able to be reached within 2 weeks of winning the contest, reserves the right to hold another drawing to determine another winner.

Prize Awarded:
A 2 ½ Day Whitetail Deer Hunt provided by Mt. Creek Farm & Outfitters of Ellerbe, NC

Prize includes:
A Full Service Hunt that includes Lodging & Bedding, Complementary Meals, Snacks & Drinks, Transportation To & From the stand, and Recover & Dressing of your trophy (Total Est. Cost = $600).  Winner is also able to book 4 additional hunters to join him / her during the hunt, but those joining will be required to pay the full price of $600 per participant for their spot in the hunt.  Winner is able to hunt with any bow, muzzle loader or rifle / shotgun that they provide.  Winner will also be provided a list of additional items they may want to bring not provided by Mt. Creek Farm & Outfitters.

The winner will have the opportunity to schedule a hunt to take place between Mid-Sept. 2011 & Jan. 1st 2012 with specific dates being available for booking once the NC DNR has determined the season’s dates.  Mt. Creek Farm & Outfitters reserves the right to exclude available dates due to previous bookings or conflicts that may arise.

Winner can NOT exchange the prize for cash and is not allowed to sale the prize to another individual.
Winner is responsible for all transportation costs to and from Mt. Creek Farms as well as any additional taxes or fees required by the State of NC to hunt as well as any other costs not stated by Mt. Creek Farm & Outfitters of Ellerbe, NC.  Winner will be required to purchase a NC Hunting License if they do not have one.

Winner will be required to sign a release form with Mt. Creek Farm & Outfitters before being able to participate in the hunt.  Winner also agrees to release from any responsibilities or issues that may arise from the hunt upon acceptance of the prize.

Total odds of winning are based on the total number of entries received into the contest.
